Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom to be Featured Guest

SLOCDP confirmed in late December that Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom will be a featured guest along with California Secretary of Resources John Laird at the inaugural event "Dining With The Stars" taking place on February 24.  See the Events / Meetings Section.

Monning Makes Senate Run Official

Bill Monning is running for the state Senate seat currently held by Republican Sam Blakeslee.  "I am enthused by redistricting and fired up and ready to go", Monning announced.  The new Senate District 17 runs from Santa Cruz through SLO county.

RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF OCCUPY WALL STREET MOVEMENT

WHEREAS a movement known as #Occupy Wall Street has grown across the U.S., including a group organized in San Luis Obispo called Occupy SLO,

WHEREAS Occupy Wall Street vocalizes a progressive moral vision and view of democracy, emphasizing both individual and social responsibility and a government of and for the people, not of and for the wealthiest 1%, and

WHEREAS Occupy Wall Street supporters have called for campaign reform including public financed campaigns and

WHEREAS Occupy Wall Street seeks change that promotes social, economic and environmental justice,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party supports the efforts of Occupy Wall Street and Occupy SLO.
